Fall State Board of Directors’ Meeting held in San Marcos, Texas
American GI Forum of Texas, Inc. Report: SAN MARCOS, Texas – The State Board of Directors met on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the San Marcos Clubhouse, San Marcos Texas, Texas. The Finance Committee met with CEO Gil Rodriguez before the meeting to establish a budget for the state office expenses and Board travel for the 2020 year. This yearly undertaking sets funding that helps execute our established mission for another year. All executive officers are allotted a yearly travel budget for all state business that includes funding for AGIF national travel for the State Commander, State Chairwoman and the State CEO.
After the Budget, the official meeting was then called to order by State Commander Ruiz. Following the pledge of allegiance and official prayer ceremonies roll call by the State Exec verified a quorum that established all business conducted as official.
San Marcos Commander Charles Doria welcomed the Board and 1st Vice Commander Mario Perales, Ft. Stockton responded on behalf of the board both wished for a successful session.
A report from the State from CEO Gil Rodriguez and a Financial Report followed. Seguin Commander Javier Castilleja reported on a successful State Conference in Seguin last June. Commander Ceasar Ruiz included spoke on important issues that included the upcoming National Conference in San Antonio. Updates on AGIF properties which included all existing state owned. Lupe Rodriguez reported on the State Chapters with Bingo programs and their status. As is customary in Texas, the meeting was open to all attendees for discussion on all important items. Discussions included attendance to the National Midyear Conference in Corpus Christi in April, the National Conference in Las Vegas and State Conference last June in Seguin.
Members were reminded that dues for 2020 are due by January 1. For those wanting to pay early, dues, charter renewal and assessments received during and after the month of October will be good until December 2020. To avoid additional late fees please have dues and Charter assessments paid no later than January 25, 2020.
A package for each board member was prepared that include copies of the recently published state constitution with the approved amended changes, 2020 is being mailed to all chapter commanders and chairs. This information will also be sent to those having e-mails on our date base. We ask that you pass on all information to your members and other chapters. Also, on the Agenda was be the upcoming 72nd National Conference presently being planned in San Antonio, Texas in July 2020 and hosted by the State AGIF. It was reported that contracts with the hotel and the national office has been signed. Plans on workshops, plenary sessions, Entertainment and luncheons and banquet are well underway. Some sponsors have been contacted and packages for members and speakers are being prepared.

The Board meeting convenes 10:30 am and will continue through the lunch hour. Commander Charles Doria and meeting coordinator Jesse Sanchez are available for any questions on rooms, directions and available parking.
The meeting is set to start at 11:00 am, however, the Finance Committee which includes the Executive Board will meet at 10:00 am to discuss and approve the Budget for the coming year. Everyone is welcome but only the Board members can participate. The Budget will later be brought up before the entire board for ratification. The Agenda will include a complete Financial Report, a brief report on the State Conference in Seguin and the Officers’ travel budget and state office expenses. State Commander Ceasar Ruiz will be including other important items and updates on the property sales and reports on the Bingos. The meeting will be open for discussion on all important items.
